It was really a good offer for me but I said him sorry that I am unable to do that. It is because I am very much busy these days so I happened to refuse his request.

As I wrote before, I run a news site www.recentfusion.com these days and it should be updated every day as far as it is possible. Besides that I am a Pokhara bureau chief of The The Himalayan Times, the leading English daily in Nepal and Annapurna Post, Nepali national daily, so I could hardly manage myself.

Writing these sentences I am remembering my days of teenage and finding vast change in myself. At that time I was only student and I haven't any job. My mum wished I had a good job. However it didn't take long time and journalism attracted me. So I am in journalism for more than eight consecutive years. Here if I compare my recent and past days, I got very much differences in me.

Most of the organizers don't miss to feed tea to the delegates and at that time many of my friends are in confused regarding my tea habit.

Actually my tea habit is irregular because I sometime take tea but sometime not so my friends are confused. Talking about fact, in the days of summer, I don't take tea but take daily in winter. If I feel cold I sip tea is my habit however I am not a tea habitual.

I still remember that the passage about tea and coffee was read in my high school era. Having tea or coffee is not an unhealthy thing, the passage states so. In Nepal, people normally take tea in the morning time but any other times also are used for the having.

The September is about to finish but I am surprise that the rain has not been stopped even in this period.

However I fond of enjoying the raining time and feel very cool in such time. Though there is raining in Pokhara, the street are not empty and people are moving ahead towards their destination. I could see them wearing raincoat and using umbrella.

Pokhara is a place where we could enjoy long range of mountains but today the north site has blanked by bright cloud. It is also a time of trekking so many people are busy in trekking Annapurna Region but they now must be struggling continuous rain.

The temperature now is neither hot nor cold however my friends are feeling cooler than past days. Now it starts the cold season within days and we will be wearing sweaters and jackets to warm ourselves. I am now in t-shirt and jeans but the changing in weather will displace this t-shirt.

It was scheduled that our house of speaker Subash Nembang should come to Pokhara today but the continuous rain made the plane cancel. The distance between Pokhara and Kathmandu is about 2 hundred kilometers so it takes at least five hours to get Pokhara from our capital city Katmandu by bus. So it is the cause that he didn't arrive here today.

Generally it is not a time of raining here but we are seeing it. Why? I have heard and read about global warming but is it the aftermath of that? I am not sure but I guess it is. However there has not conducted any study about the global warming. In my opinion now we must be aware about it.

In coming days I would be busy with my site, http://recentfusion.com however I will be also blogging here in blog.co.uk because I learned more about blog from this site.

Talking about recentfusion.com, It is the only and first English medium news portal out of capital valley, Katmandu in Nepal. It is mainly a bridge between Nepal and outer world as well as a fusion of feelings and happenings wherever they are from but my town Pokhara and surrounding is its key concern. News, promotional travel journals, weblogs and infotainments are the major appendages of this site. I would be very much rapture to get your ideas, comments and views.

It is very painful for a reporter as well as to all the conscious citizens that a news reporter is still in captivity. Mr. Johnston is a Gaza correspondent of BBC but it is sad that the requests from various sectors over his release are being worthless. His parents, all the BBC staffers and journalists and many people from all over the world have been urging for his release since his abduction.
The Army of Islam had claimed that Mr. Johnston was in their captivity but no more information has been revealed. Demanding the release of Mr. Johnston over 160,000 signatures from the people have been carried out by BBC in its site. Being a reporter such incident like Johnston abduction definitely hurts me. During the period of 10 years insurgency in Nepal too, we Nepali journalists also had to face the problem of abduction, threatening and others from both the government and the Maoists side however the situation is very good now. In the context of Johnston, I would like to request those people who abducted him to release Mr. Johnston as soon as possible.

The characteristic of Pokhara is the raining generally in the evening time if the day is hot and sunny but this trend has been broken during these four days. Why is it being so? Is it an effect of global warming? Anyway I hope the city will see the rainfall soon and we will enjoy it as before.

During my school time I used to be within 1st, 2nd or 3rd position but after joining college, I hardly remember my roll number as well. In Nepal, most of the people think that study is for having better job in future but I never thought so. Anyway these days I am trying to make a mood for study because there is only a month left to start the examination. Yea, this is my style.

Rain in my town is not new matter and we call it Cherapunji of Nepal. India's Cherapunji is known as rainiest place of the world. Oh yea, today is also Valentine's Day. It is popular especially in urban area of Nepal and more popular than the father's day and mother's day but today is not holidaying here.Though it is rainy day, we are going to play snow in Australian Camp (Thulakharka), some 1.5 hours drive from Pokhara. A year after this camp saw the snowfall. Though there are some musical concerts and programs in Pokhara, I will not present there. There would be crowd but my mood today is to stay in cool environment. My friend Krishna Mani yesterday published a valentine picture in our newspaper Annapurna Post where girls seem busy to choose the cards for their lovers. My friend Ram Dai is busy to make calls to his girlfriends. Me? I neither send any Valentine card nor date with any girl today. Any way I am happy alone today.

The day is as sunny as yesterday but not so cold like yesterday. When I was walking on the street this morning I felt very proud that I am in Pokhara, a paradise in the earth. I love you Pokhara.

I remember that the bank had won the bank of the year prize last time but now I am thinking and want to ask with National Bank of Nepal who provided this prize, what is the matching point between such kind of service and that prize? It's the irresponsible service of NI bank.
The bank deduct all the taxes for providing the debit card service but I am not getting chance to withdraw my own money form my account. I usually don't like to visit the bank due to the long queue of the customers so frequently visit the ATM.
There are only three rupees in my pocket for 4 days however not facing any big problem due to no money because I take my lunch and dinner in hotel on monthly basis and managing the Tiffin anyway. Now I am enjoying the days with empty pocket and thinking when will the ATM work?

In my town Pokhara, we can see retail goods, business men, pedestrians; all are on the footpath. Due to our unsystematic footpaths, it takes more than double time to finish the certain distance in rush hour. Sometimes I have found the playing motorbikes and bicycles on the footpaths; what type of sense is it? Pedestrians themselves also are found sometime problematic in jamming the footpaths. If one meets his/her relative coming from opposite site then they start to chitchat on the midline of the footpath if they are less aware about the basic system. Then what does it happen in narrow footpaths? Definitely, traffic jammed. So, to well-manage the footpaths, we have to shift and manage footpath businesses in certain areas where the traffics are very low. Invading over footpaths by Parking and building materials have to be stopped and people themselves should be aware.

But sometimes when clouds veil that snowcapped mountain I feel boring. Yea, seeing mountains is my passion and mountains are the cause I love my town and wish to stay here.
Pokhara, the tourist capital of Nepal, holds very amazing weather as well. It's a most rainy town of Nepal. If it rains in Katmandu, capital city of Nepal and one of the most polluted cities in South Asia, the land remains muddy for days but here in my town all the water is absorbed within a hour. Reason, sandy and lime mixed soil of the town.
Yesterday I was pillion riding to travel around my town, somewhere we found sunlight and somewhere we traveled through cloudy portion. I think it is amazing type of climate that we found diverse weather tastes within half an hour in small area of town. I have found same in the case of raining as well. In the time of raining, somewhere we feel it but somewhere not even in a small area. Sometimes the motorbike rider seems cartoon when he reaches the area where it is not raining with wet raincoat.

People are also organizing celebration rallies and lighting candles as a victory of them.
No doubt, it can be said as a beginning of new Nepal if the implementation part ahead is strong in real Practice. Prime minister Girija Prasad Koirala and Maoist chairman Prachand have taken the agreement not only as a historic deal but also as a lesson for the international community. India, US, Uk and other countries also have already hailed the agreement even though US is still suspicious about the implementation parts of agreement. However, Koirala and prachanda including most of the Nepali people think this agreement as an avenues and possibilities of New Nepal.
Looking back to the past, 2 sides didn't seriously follow the many other accords, they signed but they succeeded once again for landmark deal this time. However both sides now in a doorway of historic turning point. It is not only an ending of continuous bloodshed of Nepal but also is an opportunity and challenge for the Nepali people and their leaders. However Koirala and Prachanda have still warned of conspiracy against the democracy from specially a royalist side.
Anyway, everybody now should concentrate his or her mind and activities for the fair and peaceful election of constituent assembly (CA) that is to be held in next year and will declare the fate of the monarch's fate. Since very few people know about CA, politicians, expert and other people who know about CA need to go with people to aware them about it.
Most of the people who took part in April uprising had chanted slogans on the favor of republicanism. So people in Nepal are in the mood of Republic now. No matter who will win the election but the parties have to hold the clear and long run visions for the modern Nepal in this 21st century.
Talking about development of the country, tourism and hydro sectors can uplift the condition of Nepal. Agriculture, Education, health, transportation sectors are equally important for the sustainable development of Nepal. But peace and stability are only the factors that Nepalese fundamentally want in democracy.
Reconstruction of bombed and fired governmental and non-governmental offices is other important part of beginning of new Nepal and the socioeconomic reformation of Nepal is another vital part. Nepal have 2 giant neighboring economies that are India and China who hold more that 7 and 10 percent of economic growth, that can be the lesson for the Nepal. Nepal is also being talked as a transit point between these 2 countries;this proposal need to be planned in time negotiating multilaterally. Chinese railway, which has just came to Tibet, should try to lengthen to the Nepal, requesting and co-ordinating with Chinese government. UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are also important aspect to uplift the country.
Now Maoists are ready to lay down their arms but there can be put up arms by other side or by Maoists again if the feudalism is not abolished in the coming days; many people believe Maoists' war that killed some 13000 people, is against the feudalism.

 Comments

Is world being More Unsafe?

As much as we talk about the world peace, this issue is being like a more challenging day by day to the world community. The terrorist plot over the several aircrafts in London on August 10 is one of the latest examples.
There had been disrupted another such kind of terrorist plot in Chicago on June 22 that had targeted the 110-story Sears Tower. We can't forget the resent Mumbai train bombings of July 11 as well. September 11 of 2001 was one of the deadliest days in world history and 7 July 2005 remained the most brutal day for the Londoners.
Though efforts against terrorism are ongoing, terrorist activities also are occurring in world. All these scenarios have shown that the world is being unsafe from terrorism day by day but what can world community do to get rid of all those kinds of misdeeds? Now terrorism is not even an issue of any single country. It's also not in a certain place as well. So, to tackle against the terrorism, world's collective effort is mostly essential.
Terrorists have been targeting especially in mega cities; there transport systems and tallest towers. Security systems of those places must be highly activated and updated. Besides strong detective system, modern measures also should be adopted against terrorism and its kinds. The world needs to be developing modern kinds of technologies against the different kind of weapons in different forms. Most of the world places especially airports are still holding old security-check measures, they should be adopted modern ones. Since security personals and their systems couldn't be reached everywhere, every body and every civilian should aware for their own security.
After the attacks over twin towers in September 11, the issues of word terror and world peace erupted simultaneously. Though United States and United Kingdom announced themselves as leaders against world terrorism, their efforts are still not seen enough for the purpose. Osama bin Laden and his organization All-Qaeda are still in existence. It's not only a matter of Osama and his organization as well. There are so many such terrorists and their organizations that remain the challenges and threats over the world peace. So the world community should think of anti terror measures.
The situations of Middle East, Iraq, Kashmir, Sri Lanka are also not in the favor of world peace. In the case of ongoing Israel and Lebanon war, United States' deeds are criticized. Misunderstandings between Iran and United States are also threatening the world peace. Arab and Muslim world are not satisfied from the east world. These are the very challenging and critical issues over world peace. UN role can be effective for the world peace and world body should make itself more strong and fair in decision-making system as well.

 Comments

A War Game in Musical World: iPod Vs Zune

Microsoft and Apple are going to face a tough technological war regarding handheld music player. Apple's iPod which is most popular player of the musical world will see his rival 'Zune' of Microsoft later of this year. After months of rumors, Microsoft had confirmed on july 21 that it plans to create a portable music player.

Though some have termed Zune as a killer of the iPod, apple has yet disclosed its plan how he would compete with Zune. However the production of Zune is emerged as a much awaited and famous issue among the music lovers and pundits of this sector.

As Microsoft experience is on the sector of software production, many are asking themselves how he would drive his Zune project smoothly. Though many experts said Microsoft would find it hard to compete with Apple, there is huge number of believers who are confidence in the success of Zune project.

Experts said the success of the product would depend on whether users were able to download music and video wirelessly. iPod rival would have wireless internet capabilities to download music without a PC, said the report. Microsoft has a long way to go to catch -- or even compete with -- the wildly successful iPod and Apple's iTunes store. The iPod dominates the digital music player market at more than 70 percent, and more than two-thirds of all legal music downloads are from the iTunes store. Nate Elliott, digital home analyst at Jupiter Research, said when they (Microsoft) really want to make a success of something they are willing to do it themselves and obvious example is the Xbox. The pictures of the handheld palayer have also been revealed on the web and according to Microsoft its under-development Zune brand as a line of hardware and software for mobile entertainment, both music and video. According to Microsoft the products will be designed to complement Microsoft's Media Center PC software, Xbox 360, Xbox Live, MSN and Windows Live initiatives.

"Under the Zune brand, we will deliver a family of hardware and software products, the first of which will be available this year," said Chris Stephenson, general manager of market for entertainment and services at Microsoft, in a statement. "We see a great opportunity to bring together technology and community to allow consumers to explore and discover music together."

In the last quarter, Apple sold more than 8 million iPods, bringing the total sold to date to 58 million iPods. And Apple has sold more than 1 billion songs and has more than 3 million songs to choose from in its iTunes catalog. It has sold more than 35 million videos. The company has already disclosed plans to boost spending by $2.7 billion this fiscal year on a variety of new products and initiatives.

The iPod holds more than half of the digital media player market, according to research company NPD, while iTunes accounts for over 70 percent of U.S. digital music sales. In the United States, the iPod has more than 75 percent of the digital music player market, according to NPD.

Entrepreneurs had expected that the budget would address the tourism sector very effectively since the budget was presented after the successful people movement. 143 billion Rupees budgets hardly touch the tourism sector and incorporated the expectations of entrepreneurs in dust. The member of Nepal tourism board, Basudev Tripathi said that the government didn't feel the tourism sector as a significant sector for the development of the country.
Entrepreneurs have been demanding special package to revive the sick tourism industry but according to entrepreneurs, there is not any special aid programs for the tourism industry in the budget. Because of the 10 year long Maoists insurgency in Nepal, tourism sector here is about to death.
According to a senior tourism entrepreneur Sundar Kumar Shrestha, long term loan, cheap bank interest rates, reduction in electricity and drinking water charge rates and other some special packages are the entrepreneurs' key demands. Many hotels and tourism enterprises are set up through the bank loans.
Though the tourism sector is termed as a significant part in the contribution of country's GDP, only 4 percent such contribution is occurred in formal data. However Nepal has high potentialities in tourism sector. Some experts have suggested that the Nepal need to be increased the amount of air flights and should reduce the air fair to lure the many foreign tourists. They also asked the government to make active the foreign embassies of Nepal in different countries for the promotion of tourism of Nepal
Nepal government had marked the 1998 as a visit Nepal year. After that, about 0.5 million tourist had come Nepal per year. This is the highest amount of tourist arrival in Nepal. After that very few tourists, around 0.3 millions have come to Nepal per year.
A high level official of tourism ministry said some days ago here in pokhara that the ministry has a target of 1 million tourists per year by 2010 in Nepal. According to Shanker Koirala of tourism ministry, it's not so hard to achieve the target due to the pro-peace environment in the country.
He also added that the Nepal has not any latest tourism policy for the promotion and conduction of this sector properly. Mr. Koirala informed that the draft of the policy has made before 2 years and the coalition government of Nepal which is said to be formed in the future would bring the vital tourism policy.

Why does palace need 210 million rupees? Nepalese are asking the finance minister such question. The present government had formed after the success of 19 days long peoples' movement but the leaders have still holding feudal thinking so the budget has come conventionally. This budget should be come with drastic change; it was the hope of general people who want republic in Nepal. There is a vast gap between traditional leaders and Nepali people who want new Nepal soon. The king was the main villain who suppressed the peoples' movement. He had seized the people right and declared himself as an executive of this country but his suppression couldn't remain for long time.
But it's amazing that the leaders are still want to hug the brutal king. No matter all the old leaders would have been swiped way when the election of constituent assembly held. Then we energetic youngsters will start the work for new Nepal as a republic Nepal.

 Comments

Lightning and cell phone

Smoking is injurious to health; such directive should be written out in cigarette packets and liquor bottles before selling them in Nepal. It's a duty of company, who produce these stuffs. What do you think in the case of cell phones? Should cell phone companies include that kind of instructions in their productions? I am pointing to the British doctors who have warned that the cell holders should be aware to carry their set in the time of lightning but why? The BBC website reportedly tells that the cell users might be harmed from the electric current through their sets when lightning.
Doctors have suggested the cell phone producers to deliver the warnings of dangerous using mobile set. How practical is it? I think it's not a big deal to notify the warnings but are British doctors 100 pc right in their research? No one has guarantees. From the consumers point of view such issue should be left for further research. British doctors have mentioned that the 3 cases of death while using the mobile set in the time of lightning. Such cases have been found in China, Korea and Malaysia. It's really sensitive matter so there should be done wide and deep research regarding lightning and cell phone using. Last year my town also saw a death from the impact of lighting when using the phone but it was landline service not cell phone.
I am still not sure about the cancer from the use of cell phones, which is long going argument. It is also rumored that the holding cell phone around the waist could reduce the holders' fertility power. There are so many such things, which are still like a crow inside fug. So I think Lightning and cell phone is also another such issue.

For this purpose, the Nepal government and the rebellion party Maoists have reached in an accord that the interim constitution would be written within 15 days and the present house of representatives would be dissolve within a month. UN would be called for the arm management of both sides- Maoists and the Nepal Army as well.
But the amazing thing is that the Nepal major political party Nepali congress and the some others bias ones are not digesting this accord. Most of the Nepali people are taking this agreement as a political breakthrough. This is really a revolutionary decision in the Nepal's peace process after a 10 year insurgency which claimed 13000 lives. I think the accord in nature is revolutionary so it's being hard to digest to those feudal minded people. Feudal minded people are like a snail who doesn't like rapid change. But the country needs such change.
UN and other diplomatic foreign institutions which are here in Nepal already hailed the accord. Then why some people are being villain here? I think it's unfortunate for our country. One of my favorite news website BBC south Asia has elaborated the rebel supremo Prachanda as a villain but the writer is given the reason behind this is the death of 13000 people. Is it enough reason for the presentation of Prachanda as a villain? I think, writer likes to forget the purpose of the Maoists' insurgency, republic Nepal.

I have just watched a documentary about this movement of my town, Pokhara where we got first martyr of people movement-II, Bhimsen Dahal. It's really nice documentary, which is made by Photojournalists of Pokhara. The movement was ongoing in the base of 12-point pacts reached between Maoists and Seven Party alliance (SPA). So it got successes. This thing is focused on documentary. Burning tires, pelting stones, police and army's suppression, and pro democracy slogans of people memorize the People movement II.
Nepal is now in the process of peace making. So it's under going peace talks between Maoists rebel and the Nepal government. Maoist top leader Puspkamal Dahal alias Prachand has just talked to Mr. Girija Prasad Koiral, prime minister of Nepal. In the peace process, Nepal is focusing its effort on constituent assembly (CA) election. Before that, Maoists would join the interim government. UN or any other credible third institution would observe arms of both sides. Now the key subject is the process and modality of CA. Talks would finalize that thing. Most people are now not aware about the CA election. They need to be taught about it. Government through CA election would form the new laws and conduct the main election.
Some days ago PM Koirala flashed out his controversial views about the monarchy. He wants to see the king in a ceremonial role but the most of the Nepali hates the king. They want the abolishment of the monarchy. If there is monarchy it will be the chance of conspiracy against democracy. Prachand also condemned the Koirala's saying. April movement restored the democracy in Nepal and stripped the king off many roles. Mr. Koirala however said that we welcome the people's votes. Now I want to know that who would be the first president of republic Nepal, Prachanda or Mr. Koirala or any other one? Would Nepal conclude the CA election? Would there be full peace in Nepal? Would Nepal be republic state, I think Yes.
